Apply to the Simon Fletcher Charitable Trust for support

One of the Simon Fletcher Charitable Trust’s main activities is to make an annual award to a deserving musician, particularly a singer, at the beginning of his or her career.

The award in 2010 will be a single bursary of £1,500 and will be made to a singer in the UK, with further awards of up to £1,000 possible at the panel’s discretion.

Eligibility

The 2010 award is open to all singers aged 32 or below on 01/10/2010 undertaking a full-time course of postgraduate vocal studies or advanced opera at a UK conservatoire or music college or within the training programme of a major opera company in the 2010-2011 academic year.

Conditions

It is a condition of accepting an award from the Simon Fletcher Charitable Trust that the successful recipient makes one unpaid concert appearance at a fundraising event for the Trust, at a date to be mutually agreed.

The Trust reserves the right to make payment of any award through the recipient’s educational institution, where the Trust deems this to be appropriate.

Application Procedure

Applicants should complete the application form MS Word or Adobe Acrobat and submit together with a covering letter (of no more than 2 sides A4 in length) which gives a detailed description of their particular circumstances and also a summary (in approximately 100 words) of why they think that they would deserve and benefit from an award from the Simon Fletcher Charitable Trust.

Interviews for short listed candidates will be held in London on Saturday 17 April 2010.

Unsuccessful applicants will only receive notification if they include a stamped addressed envelope with their application. Alternatively, notification by e-mail can be requested.
