Jemima Oosthuizen, the young cellist the SFCT helped buy a new bassoon in 2008, is looking forward to being in the orchestra for Amadeus in Chichester later this month as part of the National Student Drama Festival. Especially so, as she’ll be wearing period costume! “It will be quite an experience,” she says. Jemima, who is busily involved in her first year of study at the Royal Academy, she is also playing as much as she can with other musical groups. She’s determined to achieve her dream of becoming a full-time professional bassoonist.
Jemima Oosthuizen’s mother Amanda is convinced the support given her daughter to buy a new bassoon has been invaluable. “Without the financial help of the Simon Fletcher Charitable Trust, her dream to become a professional musician would have been fruitless,” she says.
